Is the program accredited?
Yes, this is an approved and accredited program through the Higher Learning Commission.
Who teaches the courses? Do the faculty in this program have PhDs? Are there TAs?
Coe faculty, the majority of whom have the terminal degree in their field, will teach these courses. No teaching assistants are used for our online courses.

Are the courses offered at various times of the day?
All coursework is asynchronous to provide flexibility for students. You are able to login to Moodle, our online learning system, anytime, anywhere. Moodle allows you to access recorded classes, course materials, chat with your professors, connect with classmates and turn in assignments. There are no required time periods that you must be online.
When do the terms start and end?
The terms will start and end with our standard academic calendar. There will be two eight-week sessions in the fall and spring terms and one eight-week session during summer. This year’s sessions will be:

Is this a major in business leadership?
Coe is offering a Bachelor of Arts degree with a business administration major and a strategic leadership concentration.
What percent of classes are online?
100%. There are no in-person requirements.
How are online classes structured?
Classes are facilitated through our learning management system, Moodle, utilizing various methods. These could include short video lectures, problem sets, discussion forums, written assignments, quizzes and exams and group work. Most courses are structured on a weekly basis, and students have flexibility on when and how they access course materials.
What career services are available to online students?
We offer a robust array of services through our C3: Creativity, Careers, Community center. Resume workshops, interviewing preparation, job seeking assistance and community connections are all available to both on-campus and online students.
How long will it take to complete this program?
Most students taking a full-time course load will complete this degree in four years. However, we offer flexible options that allow you to adjust your course load based on your schedule. A full-time course load includes taking two courses during each of the four eight-week sessions.
Can I work full-time while pursuing this degree?
Yes, our program is designed with working professionals in mind. You can adjust your course load to balance work, family and study commitments.
Will Coe accept transfer credits in its online programs?
Yes, transfer credits will be accepted from accredited colleges and universities, following transfer credit policies stated in our college catalog. Your Coe admission counselor and the Coe Registrar can provide more information on transfer credit policies when you apply for admission.
How many general education requirements are there in this program?
This program includes eight divisional general education requirements across four areas as well as other graduation requirements that can overlap with the divisional requirements.
What are the core courses required for this major? What’s the four-year pathway?
A major in business administration requires a minimum cumulative 2.0 GPA in all courses
counted toward the major. At least 40 percent of the courses must be completed at Coe.

Do I need a certain computer or software?
You’ll need a reliable internet connection and computer with a webcam. If there are specific software purchase requirements for a course, they will be articulated to students before classes begin.
How do I contact my professor if I need help?
Coe’s faculty are well known for their accessibility. All faculty will share their email address with students, along with any other preferred contact information. Students can request individual phone or video appointments with faculty, consistent with the contact methods and policies outlined in each course syllabus.
Can I take in-person classes at Coe when enrolled in the online program?
No. Coe offers all courses needed for an online degree only in the online modality.
Online Student Experience
Can I play a sport for Coe or join a club?
Currently, Coe is not offering participation in athletic programs or on-campus clubs/organizations for online students.
Can I live in the residence halls?
Coe does not offer on-campus living for online students.
Can I come to campus to use the amenities or access amenities online?
Academic-related amenities like C3, the Learning Commons, TRIO, accommodations and student success services are available to online students (virtually and on campus) as part of your tuition and fees. If you live in the Cedar Rapids area and are interested in paying for specific athletic/recreational facility access visit this website. Due to the licensure of our campus partners, mental health counseling is not available for online students.
How can I connect with other students in my online classes?
You will be able to connect with other students in your course through online discussion forums, email and optional Zoom discussions.
Do I have a physical Coe College ID card?
If you do not plan to use the Coe College facilities, you will not need an ID card. However you will still have a Coe College ID number.
If you would like to come to campus to use the library, academic buildings or athletic facilities (after paying an additional fee), you will need an ID card. Online students can email studentlife@coe.edu to request a physical ID card.
Admission & Financial Aid
What are the admission requirements?
A cumulative high school or college GPA of 2.5 or higher on 4.0 scale is required. If you have earned an AA/AS degree, 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale is required.

Are international students eligible for this program?
No, international students are not eligible to be fully enrolled in an online program.
Can transfer students apply? How many transfer credits are accepted? Which of my credits transfer?
Yes, students with previous college credit can apply for admission as a transfer student. Coe accepts up to 16 credits from two year institutions and up to 24 total transfer credits. Transfer credits will be evaluated by the Office of the Registrar once an official transcript has been sent to Coe.
Is credit given to adult students for professional experience?
No, Coe does not give credit for professional experience.
Is there an enrollment fee? How much is it?
There is no enrollment fee.
Can I attend this program as a part-time student?
Yes. Students in online programs often take a smaller course load. It should be noted that students must be enrolled for at least two course credits per term to be eligible for student loans.
Can currently enrolled students take this program?
This program is 100% online. Coe’s currently enrolled traditional students are not eligible for these online courses.
What is the cost?
$1,700 per course, plus a $50 technology fee per term. Payment of the technology fee is required each term (fall, spring, summer), regardless of how many courses you take each 8-week session within that term. Students taking courses each term would pay the following technology fee: $50 fall, $50 spring and $50 summer.
What is the cost of books for this program?
Materials costs vary greatly per course. You will find some of our online courses use open source materials, and others will require a purchased book. Books per course may range from $100-$300.
Are there payment plans?
Yes, payment plans are available which allow students to pay their tuition in three payments over the course of each 8-week session. There is a fee for this plan, but no finance charges are assessed if the payments are made on time. You may also pay your tuition with a credit card.
When and how do I pay my bill?
Tuition can be paid online through My Coe (my.coe.edu) or in person at the Student Financial Services Office in Voorhees Hall on Coe’s campus.
Is state and federal financial aid available for online degree programs?
Online degree programs are generally eligible for federal and state aid, however details of your individual situation should be discussed with the Office of Financial Aid.
Are institutional aid or scholarship available?
There is no institutional aid or scholarship aid available for online degree programs.
Do military benefits apply?
Yes, the online program is eligible for military benefits.
Student Transition & Support
Is there an orientation?
Yes, an online orientation program will be provided to help ease the transition and provide information on the resources available.
Do I have a Coe email account? When and how do I get access to that?
Yes, you will have a Coe email address and access to other college technology systems. Access will be provided prior to the first day of classes.
Academic Support
When is course registration?
Course registration will be on a rolling basis, completed as students enroll/deposit for the program.
Will I have an advisor?
All students at Coe have a faculty advisor. Initially, your advisor may be someone teaching one of your first term courses but students often choose a faculty member in their area of study with whom they have developed a particularly strong relationship.
Are tutors available?
Tutors are available for most online courses.
