Art Course Requirements

Four-Year Plan Art

The following represents only one of many paths students can take to complete the major in art. Note that students typically take four courses per semester for a total of eight each year. Check the Coe catalog to review all of your options.

First Year

• Two 100-level ART courses
• ARH 128 Introduction to Art History

Second Year 

• Two 300-level ART courses
• One additional 200-level Art History course
• Two ART Focus courses (0.25 credits each)

Third Year

• ARH 307 Modern and Contemporary Art (WE)
• Two ART Focus courses (0.25 credits each)
• Junior Review

Fourth Year

• ART 464 Senior Seminar 1
• ART 474 Senior Seminar 2 and Senior Exhibition

The following courses in Art and Visual Studies are required for a minor in studio art:

• ART-128 Introduction to Art History
