There are many opportunities to explore mathematics outside the classroom at Coe, and we encourage students to take advantage of as many of them as they can!
The Lindsay Seminar is a chance for some of the most promising students to experience mathematics as a creative endeavor, where conjectures and verifications take the place of routine computations. These students are selected by a board of mathematics professors and are working with concepts as first years that typically you wouldn’t experience until you are a senior or in graduate school. Students work together to understand theories they would never come up with alone.
The club organizes at least one event per month through the academic year, with a wide variety of activities including speakers and graduate students from schools in Iowa.
