Zen Cohen

Zen Cohen is a time-based media artist working with video, sound, digital photography and installation. Her work has been exhibited nationally at the deYoung Museum, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, SFMOMA, SOMarts, The Lab, The Montalvo Center, ARTSpace New Haven, Vanity Projects NY and internationally at the Museo de Arte Moderno in Mexico City and Centro Atlántico de Arte Moderno in the Canary Islands. Her photographs have been published in Routledge, Hyperallergic, Art Practical and Southern Illinois University Press. In 2013, she received an Individual Artist Commission Grant in Media Arts from the San Francisco Arts Commission. Her production experiences include working as a video editor for Al Jazeera America and owning a media production studio in San Francisco, which produced short documentaries, music videos, photo shoots and graphic design for artists and organizations. Since moving to Iowa City in 2018, she joined the Board of Directors at Public Space One and is collaborating with the organization to build a Media Arts Co Op. She is the founder and curator of a public art program, Open Air Media Festival, that invites Iowa-based artists to present video projection works in outdoor locations around Iowa City.

Kayti Lausch teaches film and media studies courses at Coe, including Introduction to Film Studies, Film History and Sex, Race and Gender in the Media. She is a media historian, and she studies the relationships between identity, culture, politics, Christianity and American media. Her most recent work explores the industrial, cultural and political impacts of evangelical
television networks in the United States.
