Academic Advising
TRIO SSS advisors serve as secondary advisors to students enrolled in TRIO SSS, offering additional guidance on course selection, general education requirements and academic policies.

Academic Coaching
TRIO SSS advisors challenge students to reflect on their academic progress in relation to their personal and professional goals, encouraging growth throughout individualized support and goal setting.

Summer Bridge Program
Summer Bridge is a five-day pre-orientation program designed for eligible incoming first-year students, offering an early introduction to Coe College courses and campus life. The program includes academic classes, skill-building workshops, peer mentoring and opportunities to explore the Cedar Rapids community.

Financial Aid and Literacy
TRIO SSS advisors provide individualized guidance on budgeting, completing the FAFSA and making informed financial decisions. Students also receive support in finding and applying for scholarships.

Career Leadership & Development
Students collaborate with their TRIO SSS advisor to build a career portfolio, including strength assessments, a resume and a cover letter. TRIO SSS partners with Coe's Center for Creativity and Careers (C3) to connect students with additional career development resources.

Academic Enrichment and Career Exploration
Students are invited to participate in experiences throughout the Cedar Rapids area that support their academic, personal and professional growth. TRIO covers the cost of visits to events such as museums, art exhibits, theatre performances and other learning opportunities that expand students' knowledge and foster critical thinking.

Graduate and Professional School Preparation
TRIO SSS provides support to students as they consider and navigate the process of applying to graduate or professional school. Each year, students have the opportunity to visit graduate and professional school campuses as part of their preparation.

Additional Grant Money
The College Completion Challenge Grant is available to first- and second-year Coe College students who are active in the TRIO SSS program, receive the Pell Grant and are in good academic standing. Applications open during the fall semester for spring disbursement.
