How to Have a Writing Conference

How do I get a Writing Conference at the Coe Writing Center?

For every hour we're open, at least two consultants will be ready to talk with you about your writing project. Walk-ins are welcome and appointments are available. Of course this resource is free to Coe Students and every member of the Coe community.

How do I make an appointment?

To make sure a consultant is available to meet with you, use our online scheduler, WCOnline to make an appointment at a time that works for you. Here are videos explaining how to register for an account on WCOnline and how to make an appointment.

If you haven’t been to the Writing Center before, you’ll need a free WCOnline account.

How do I get to my Writing Conference?

Writing conferences are held in the cozy environment of the Writing Center on the main floor of Stewart Memorial Library. Sit with a consultant at one of our tables or side-by-side on our couch while you discuss your writing project. Free hot beverages--tea, hot chocolate, or coffee from the library coffee shop--are available to anyone having a writing conference.

What about online conferences?

If you can’t make it to the Writing Center, you can choose to have an online appointment. Talk  with a consultant online, share your draft, and keep track of suggestions and feedback with the chat function of our online platform. This video explains how to access your online conference platform.

Happy writing to you!

Tomorrow may be hell, but today was a good writing day, and on good writing days nothing else matters. — Neil Gaiman
