Important Notes
- Certificates are issued by FAA-authorized Aviation Medical Examiners (AMEs).
- Color vision deficiencies may restrict flying.
- An important limitation to note is the color vision restriction, which bars pilots from flying at night or under signal gun control. It is crucial to promptly identify these issues to determine eligibility for flight training.
- Some medical or legal conditions may delay or prevent certification. Begin this process early to ensure eligibility.
- Should there be any medical or legal concerns that require attention, it is important to note there may be potential delays in the acquisition of your medical certificate. It is mandatory to possess a medical certificate prior to commencement of flight training. Therefore, acquiring your medical certificate well in advance is recommended to prevent potential delays.
- First-class certificates are necessary for pilots who are using the privileges of an airline transport pilot certificate.
- Second-class medical certificates are required for pilots using the privileges of a commercial pilot certificate.
- Third-class medical certificates are sufficient for initial training purposes.
