Successful Alumni


Coe graduates have an excellent record of admission to leading law and professional schools. In recent years, Coe grads have been accepted at law schools such as the University of Iowa, Harvard University, Cornell University, University of Chicago, University of Colorado, New York University, and Washington University.


 

Scott Deangelis

Scott DeAngelis graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in Business Administration and Economics with a minor in Mathematics. Scott completed an internship with Chicago-based Futures Commission Merchant, Eagle Market Makers during his time at Coe and attends Vanderbilt University Law School, where he is enrolled in the the Ph.D. Program in Law and Economics.

"Through the help of the Pre-Law program I learned how to go about studying for the LSAT, obtain the information needed to send in to apply and write a quality personal statement."

Words of Wisdom: "Study hard for the LSAT. Take the LSAT and finish applications as early as possible."


Ethan Olson

Ethan Olson graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, triple majoring in Political Science, English and Philosophy. Ethan attended the University of Iowa College of Law, where he graduated with highest distinction.  After clerking for the Honorable Linda R. Reade, United States District Court Judge for the Northern District of Iowa, he joined the firm of Nyemaster Goode, where he maintains a general litigation practice.

"The fact that there is no rigid structure to the Pre-Law program at Coe is really great. It allows you to explore your own interests while still preparing you for law school."

Words of Wisdom: "It's never too early to start thinking about law school. Even as a First-Year you can go to the law school visits or go to law school fairs. Start thinking about what you love about Coe that you would like to see in a law school and then go out and look for a school that has that."


Sean Raisch

Sean Raisch graduated in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in Business Administration and Political Science with a minor in Economics. Sean attended Drake Law School and works for Davis Brown Law Firm, specializing in real estate and business transactions, banking and health law.

"The Pre-Law program opened my eyes to the availability of graduate programs after Coe. Through communication with faculty I was able to figure out what I wanted to do with my life and also be steered in the best direction to get me where I wanted to go."

Words of Wisdom: " Don't be afraid to meet with a professor in their office before or after class, at Coe, professors are generally very happy and excited to help their students succeed."


 

Holly Corkery

Holly (Grieder) Corkery graduated in 2009, double majoring in history and economics. She went on to study law at the University of Iowa and graduated in 2012. She has practiced at Lynch Dallas, P.C. in Cedar Rapids since 2012, where she maintains a general litigation practice.

"The faculty at Coe are really exceptional. Not only are they experts in their fields, but they truly care about Coe students and take the time to get to know them. My professors wanted to see me grow and succeed both professionally and personally. Specific to my legal career, my academic experience at Coe helped refine my critical reading and writing skills. Those skills were essential to my success in law school and I continue to utilize them each day. Coe is a special place and I am always proud to call myself a Coe graduate."
