Office of Student Success & Persistence
Resources for students
At Coe we continue to earn national recognition for our efforts regarding holistic student support. Your student can access premier resources in the classroom, in academic support, in health and wellness and regarding career preparation.
Encourage your Kohawk to contact their success coach, who is the connection point to all the services available on campus. We’ll continue to dedicate efforts to ensuring the tools available will equip your student to find success in whichever ways they define it — as a student and after.
Connect 4 Success series
The Office of Student Success & Persistence is hosting
our Connect 4 Success series. These events are designed to bring together college departments and members of the campus community to offer specialized programs aimed at sharing valuable information with students and addressing any questions they may have at relevant times throughout the year.
Each event will focus on a specific topic, providing students with opportunities to connect with experts in those fields, learn more about resources available and to get personalized support.
The programs this fall are:
-
Connect 4 Academic Support - Tuesday, September 30th at 11:00 AM
-
Connect 4 Email Tips and Tricks - Tuesday, October 7 at 11:00 AM
-
Connect 4 FAFSA Filing - Tuesday, October 11 at 11:00 AM
-
Connect 4 Advising & Registration - Tuesday, October 21 at 11:00 AM
Students can view the schedule and register online by visiting the Student Success & Persistence website.
Work-Study hiring is in full gear!
Departments across campus are actively bringing students on board, though it can take a little time to match each student with the right position. Most hiring will be completed by the end of September, and students can carry their work-study award from the fall into the spring term. This provides plenty of opportunity to get started and make the most of their award throughout the year.
Students can view work opportunities and apply by visiting the Work-Study page.
*To complete onboarding, students will be required to complete a Homeland Security I-9 document that includes showing original forms of documentation that prove they are allowed to work in the United States.
Office of Information Technology
The Coe Information Technology Office has initiated a significant network infrastructure upgrade on campus that will result in increased wifi speed in various locations as well as further enhanced network security. This project is expected to continue throughout the fall term. So, coming soon… even more bandwidth for your Kohawk to accept those Facetime calls!
If your student needs technology assistance, please encourage them to submit an IT Help Desk ticket or stop by our office in Lower Voorhees Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
Mailroom Reminders
Some tips for ensuring mail, packages and deliveries make it to your student on campus:
- Double check the mailing address, with specific attention paid to the quadrant and ZIP. Here is the correct format:
Student Name
Coe College, GMU #
1220 1st Ave NE
Cedar Rapids, IA 52402
Note: There is a valid address at 1220 1st Ave. NW, so any packages sent there will not be delivered to campus. There are multiple ZIP codes for Cedar Rapids and entering an incorrect code may delay or reroute your package.
-
When placing delivery orders, we do not recommend choosing Amazon Flex or Walmart delivery options. Independent contractors often deliver Amazon and Walmart orders and sometimes leave packages as close as they can get to the GPS pin of the buyer, which is often an undesired location in a public space on campus. We cannot guarantee these deliveries will make it to your student.
-
Amazon - See the below “flex delivery” example from Amazon. To avoid having your package delivered elsewhere on campus, do not choose the expedited option.

-
Walmart - See the below options for Walmart deliveries. To avoid having your package delivered in a location other than the mailroom, do not choose the delivery option, choose “Shipping.”

Athletics update

Inaugural Athletic Day of Giving
Coe Athletics hosted its first-ever Athletic Day of Giving, raising over $250,000 with gifts from over 600 individuals. "Our first-ever Athletic Day of Giving was an incredible success," said Director of Athletics & Recreation Steve Cook. "It truly highlights the strength of the Kohawk community. The outpouring of generosity we witnessed is a testament to the unwavering support our alumni, families and friends have for our student-athletes and programs. These contributions will not only enhance our programs but also create lasting opportunities for every athlete at Coe College. Together, we are building a brighter future for our Kohawks, and I cannot thank everyone enough for their support."
Bremner Cup series
The Kohawks have a commanding 3-0 lead in the early slate of the 2025-26 Bremner Cup series competition with Cornell College. The football team picked up its 25th straight victory over the Rams in dominant fashion with a 62-6 win. Volleyball squeaked out a 3-2 win on the road in Mount Vernon to make it 2-0 while the men’s soccer team scored two goals in the final 13 minutes to come from behind for a 2-1 decision.
Women's wrestling
The athletic department is excited to announce the addition of women's wrestling as a varsity sport, set to launch in the 2025-26 academic year. The Kohawks will be led by three-time NCAA All-American Kaleb Reeves ’23, who brings a highly accomplished background in collegiate, junior and senior-level wrestling to the program. Reeves will spearhead the program's efforts with a year to build and recruit the program in 2025-26 before competition begins in 2026-27.
Clark Racquet Center updates
Students, staff and community members are enjoying new updates to the Clark Racquet Center that include modernization and equipment updates. Branding, lounge furniture and other significant face lifts have revitalized the space which continues to be unique among DIII college athletics.
