Student Loan Exit Counseling
Please note that you are required to complete the following steps to prepare for your upcoming student loan repayment. If you have any questions or concerns contact o-financialaid@coe.edu.
Complete Federal Direct Loan Exit Counseling Online!
As a Federal Student Loan Borrower, you are required to complete Exit Counseling. These sessions will review important terminology and introduce your repayment plan options.

If, after completing your counseling session(s), you have any questions about the financial aid you received while attending Coe, contact our office at o-financialaid@coe.edu or by telephone at 319-399-8540 to set up an appointment with your counselor. The Office of Student Financial Services is located in Voorhees Hall and our hours are 8:00 am - 4:30 pm(CST) Monday - Friday. We are committed to assisting Coe students and alumni.
Review your Borrower Rights and Responsibilities
Review the Student Loan Exit Counseling Guide and know your rights and responsibilities as it pertains to navigating the student loan process. Contact the FSA Ombudsperson should you experience any serious issues during repayment.
Update Your Address & Contact Information With Your Loan Servicer
You are required to provide your loan servicer with your contact information. Be sure to indicate either a permanent address or your new address as well as a reliable email address. Keep in mind you will lose access to your coe.edu email!
To find out who your loan servicer is, view your loan history at StudentAid.gov/login.
A current listing of federal loan servicers for loans made through the Direct Loan Program can be found at studentaid.gov
Coe Institutional Loans
(Canfield, Crimson & Gold, McElroy and/or Smith)
If you are a Coe Institutional (Canfield, Crimson & Gold, McElroy and/or Smith) loan borrower you will have a SEPARATE exit requirement (one for each type). These loans are serviced, on behalf of Coe, by Heartland Campus Solutions ECSI. Please watch your email for correspondence from webmaster@ecsi.net with instructions.
TEACH Grant Exit Counseling
If you received a TEACH Grant while at Coe, you are required to complete TEACH Grant Exit Counseling. This counseling will provide information about fulfilling your TEACH Grant service obligation and explains the term and conditions that apply if your TEACH Grant is converted to a Direct Unsubsidized Loan.
