Associated Colleges of the Midwest awards grant funding to Coe's Prison Learning Initiative

Coe College’s Prison Learning Initiative was awarded a grant from the Associated Colleges of the Midwest. Through the Prison Learning Initiative, students and community members examine the criminal justice system and gain a deeper understanding of incarceration, reentry challenges and how to build a more supportive environment. The grant funding is part of an effort to foster the development and execution of innovative community-based learning initiatives.

"We are proud to support worthy projects that empower students to both deepen their learning and use their knowledge to uplift their local communities."

- Lisa Jasinski, president of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest

This additional funding will allow PLI to continue and expand its vital work — educating, engaging and creating positive change. The initiative recognizes the far-reaching impacts of mass incarceration and is committed to reducing its long-term harms. By increasing understanding and fostering welcoming communities, the initiative helps ease the transition for those leaving prison and creates a safer society for all. Learn more about Prison Learning Initiative.

Coe College remains Iowa ReadyIowa Ready

On the heels of the Department of Education’s announcement of another Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) delay, Coe College is recommitting to ensuring Iowans have economic clarity regarding college pricing and access to a transformative higher education. With a broad FAFSA launch now planned for December instead of October, Coe will cap out-of-pocket costs for first-year incoming students from Iowa at $24,000.

Half of Coe's students are from Iowa, and in recent years, an even higher percentage have stayed in Iowa post-graduation. Recent changes in FAFSA calculations have had a challenging impact on Iowans, creating a stark need for action to support local students and their families. Read more about the Iowa Ready initiative.
