2026 Year in Review at Coe
January
We kicked off the year with our first group visit of 2026 — Admitted Student Day! Future Kohawks explored what makes Coe special, from meeting with accessible professors to hearing directly from students about their Coe experience.
February
Coe College welcomed the first woman Thunderbird pilot, combat veteran, fighter squadron commander, White House Fellow and advisor and indomitable spirit Col. Nicole Malachowski, USAF (Ret.) to be the 2026 K. Raymond Clark Contemporary Issues Forum speaker. Drawing on stories from her career and personal life, Malachowski inspired the audience in Sinclair Auditorium to rethink the challenges they face every day. She also held a roundtable with Coe students earlier in the day.
Future Kohawks learned about the places and people that make Coe such a special home for students during our February Admitted Student Day.
Eleven Kohawks were selected for membership in the annual Iowa Collegiate Honor Band. Over the 30-year history of honor band, Coe has had the most students selected to participate than any other college. Congratulations to Caitlin Atwood, Chase Beightler, Noelle Buck, Logan Garsez, Rebecca Gabrielsson, Kiran Jones, Kathryn Kidd-Flores, Elijah Riley, Adaliz Rios, Emma Romine and Evan Shanley!
March
Kohawks officially declared their majors during Major Declaration Day!
The Coe College women's basketball team advanced to the second round of the D-III NCAA tournament. Caydee Kirkham earned third team All-American honors from d3hoops.com.
Two Kohawk wrestlers earned All-American honors following the D-III national championship meet, which was held in Cedar Rapids. Brayden Parke ’28 finished as the national runner-up at 125 pounds and Bo Koedam ’29 finished in seventh place at 165 pounds.
Rebecca Gabrielsson ’27 was awarded the competitive and prestigious Goldwater Scholarship, a national award for students pursing research careers in STEM fields! She was assisted by National Fellowship Advisor Dr. Amber Shaw.
