Housing during holiday breaks

During Thanksgiving Break, the residence halls/apartments/houses are open to all students for no charge. Please understand there is limited dining and custodial services during this time. The residence halls/apartments/houses close for Winter Break on December 13 at noon. Students required to be on campus (ex: athletes, Coe classes, residence life) do not have to pay a fee. If a student wishes to stay on campus for other reasons, the fee is $250 and it will be put on their student account. Students will receive weekly reminders on how to sign up. December 11 is the last day to cancel Winter Break reservations without penalty.

Winter on campusPlease remember — if your student is coming home for Winter Break, we require all personal items in their room/apartment/house to be unplugged and defrosted, area cleaned and blinds closed. This is done out of safety for personal items and for the cleanliness of the building over the subsequent weeks. A $75 improper checkout fee will be charged to any room/apartment/house that does not follow this procedure.

Please contact Residence Life with any questions at residencelife@coe.edu.

Office of Student Success & Persistence

November Kohawk Family Newsletter Email Images (6).pngThe Office of Student Success & Persistence meets regularly with students to help them form connections to the people, tools and resources needed for success at Coe.

As your students return home, they may share questions or concerns they’ve encountered this term:

  • "I’m feeling unsure about what I want to study."
  • "I want to learn more about ways to get involved on campus."
  • "My adjustment to college classes has been a bit harder than I expected."

These moments are prime opportunities to help redirect students to the many resources available to them on campus. It is normal for students to need assistance at different times of the year. We want them to feel comfortable asking for help and have made it easy for them to do so. When questions or concerns arise, students can simply complete the Raise Your Hand form and they will be connected with the proper office for support.

The people at Coe are here to ensure your student has what they need to thrive and succeed. Please email studentsuccess@coe.edu with any questions.

C3: Creativity, Careers, Community

It is never too early for your student to begin exploring howNovember Kohawk Family Newsletter Email Images (7).png their interests, values and skills play a role in career exploration. The C3 team can help students consider a range of activities or engagement opportunities that may provide insight into developing a successful and meaningful career after college, regardless of where your student may be in the career development process.

During the break, ask your student if they have been to our office in McCabe Hall. If they have, encourage them to visit us again. If they haven’t visited us yet, please let them know that every student has a C3 team member who is dedicated to supporting students in their major. Students who are still considering which major is right for them can choose to meet with any staff to start the conversation. Staff are also available to hold virtual appointments with students if preferred. Setting up an appointment is easy to do on Handshake.

This fall, C3 has met with nearly 400 students in individual appointments, presented to over 20 different classes, hosted a career fair with nearly 60 employers and planned a variety of events. We hope your Kohawk has engaged with us in some capacity, but if not, we’d love to meet them!

Here are a few items that you may want to consider:

  • Encourage your student to start their resume or update it in order to apply quickly to jobs and internships.
  • Emphasize the importance of internships, research or other experiential learning.
  • Coe College utilizes Handshake as our job board. Please ask your employer if they’re connected with Coe. If not, we’d love to have them share any internships or jobs that may be available.

Connect with us on Facebook at C3: Creativity, Careers, Community and tell your student to do the same!
