Register Today for Coe's Annual Golf Outing
In its 42nd year, this event has been providing support to Coe Athletics for more than four decades because of the support of both golfers and sponsors. The funding is used throughout the athletics department to provide a variety of assistance for our student athletes, such as upgraded equipment, uniforms and travel.
More than a fundraiser, the golf outing brings alumni, family, friends, students and faculty/staff together. It unites the Coe community to create excitement, reminisce and provide support to the next generation of Kohawk athletes.
Watch for your Homecoming Early Bird email!
It's great to be a Kohawk! And there's no better time to celebrate than at Homecoming with fellow alumni. Homecoming 2024 will take place September 26-28. The weekend will be filled with football, beloved traditions including the Brat 'n' Bev tent and, of course, getting together with alumni, faculty, staff and all those who love Coe.
We are thrilled once again to offer early bird pricing for those that already have September 26-29 marked on their calendar. Registration opens in July, look for your email and take advantage of the discounted rates. See you in September!
Jim Struve Memorial Biology Research Fund
Jim Struve, a long-time Cedar Rapidian, was fortunate to attend Thursday Forums at Coe College. He notably attended the sessions presented by his son-in-law, Dr. Paul Storer, one of Coe's biology professors. Jim was especially proud of Professor Storer's research around brain disorders and his work on modern treatments. Prior to Jim's death on April 19, 2024, he requested that memorials be made to the Coe College Biology Department in Paul's honor with hope to positively impact faculty, students, and research within the department.
NetVUE Grant is Helping Coe Students Again
Coe College is continuing to help students discover their meaning and purpose in college with its fourth grant from NetVUE (Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education). This most recent grant will allow faculty and staff to broaden and deepen their knowledge of vocation and using it as a tool in the classroom.
Specifically, grant funds will be used to heighten institutional awareness of existing vocational efforts. Bringing intentional consistency to Coe's messaging will ensure that all members of the community can support students in their vocational exploration. Building on these efforts, Coe will provide more training opportunities for faculty, staff, administration and the Board of Trustees to learn about and discuss vocation at Coe. In addition, the three-day professional development seminar will be offered again to a new cohort, adding to the 12 faculty and staff who completed it in May 2024 (pictured).
The C3: Creativity, Careers, Community Center continues to secure and manage these grants under the direction of Dr. Samantha Brown and Barb Tupper. Learn more about Coe's work by reading Dr. Brown’s blog here. Implementation of the grant is already beginning and will extend through the 2024-25 academic year. If you’d like to learn more about these efforts and vocation, contact Barb Tupper '89 at btupper@coe.edu.
