I was scheduled to ring the Victory Bell individually this week (or next). What should I do now?
Good news! You can ring the bell with your classmates at Homecoming. You don’t need to ring the bell alone during the individually scheduled time.
What is the Senior Celebration?
All members of the Class of 2020 will be invited to a Saturday dinner and celebratory event in their honor during Homecoming.
When will I receive my diploma?
You may need the physical copy of your diploma for your job or graduate school prior to the October experience. Therefore, we want to ensure you have the physical copy in hand as soon as possible. Your diploma will be mailed to you at the conclusion of the 2020 spring term when all graduation requirements are met. It will be mailed to your mailing address found on my.coe.edu. You can check the mailing address the college has on file and update it, if necessary, by following these instructions:
- Log in to my.coe.edu.
- In the upper right corner, click on the profile icon and select “My profile & settings.”
- Under “My profile” on the left, click “Contact information.”
- Under “Addresses,” click “Current address.”
- If you need to do so, update your address and hit save.
What will the October Commencement experience entail?
At this event you will have the opportunity to walk across the stage and hear your name being called in front of your friends, family and the Coe community…as well as the alumni attending Homecoming!
Can I get a cap and gown?
While you are not required to order or wear a cap and gown, you are welcome to do so. The Coe bookstore run will be sharing a webpage for order processing in the coming weeks. In the meantime, for more information, feel free to email the bookstore (firstname.lastname@example.org). Please note that the original graduation cap and gown orders were canceled for the May 2020 event.
Is my family invited to the October event?
Yes! We hope your family will attend these events to celebrate your accomplishments...as well as all of Coe’s homecoming events!
Why did you choose this date?
The current global situation requires that we plan for an event taking place many months away. We also recognize many of you may already be considering a trip to campus for Homecoming 2020. In selecting this date we hope everyone has time to plan to be on campus if you wish to do so.
Am I required to attend these October events?
These recognition events are not required, but we hope you can attend.
Will Honors Convocation still take place?
An Honors Convocation ceremony will not take place, but we still will mail awards in May. The Provost’s Office will notify award recipients.
Will there be a Nurses’ Pinning Ceremony?
The Nursing Department will host a virtual ceremony in May and a reunion at Homecoming in October. Please watch your email for information about this event.
How will timing of these events correlate with the traditional Homecoming events?
The Coe community is working diligently to ensure the Class of 2020 will be able to fully partake in these graduation events as well as all the traditional Homecoming events.
