Your financial next steps…
Billing: Your Coe College billing statement will be available in mid-July on my.coe.edu in the My Student Accounts Information section under the Student tab. You will receive an email at your Coe account. Go to the Transact link to view your bill and make payments. Parents/guardians can access your account information ONLY if you give them permission. You can sign your parent/guardian up for the Parent Portal by clicking on Grant Parent Permissions from the Student menu on my.coe.edu. The Parent Portal will allow a parent and/or guardian to see your billing statement and make payments.
Anticipated Aid: The aid from your financial aid offer, except for outside scholarships and work-study, will be reflected on your first billing statement as "anticipated aid," providing you met all eligibility requirements. Verify that all requirements have been completed on my.coe.edu > Financial Aid > My Document Tracking. Loans included in your financial aid offer will be reflected as "anticipated aid" unless you've notified us that you wish to decline them.
Payment: Payment may be made to the college by term, or students can sign up for the monthly payment plan from the Transact Portal. The fall term payment is due on August 1, 2025. The spring term payment is due on January 8, 2026. You are responsible for ensuring your account is paid by the due date. Any outstanding balance not paid in full by the due date may be assessed a 1.5% monthly finance charge (unless you are enrolled in the monthly payment plan) and result in a financial hold being placed on your account. Email and text reminders about outstanding balances will be sent throughout the year. For additional information about the Coe College billing process and how to pay your student account, including loan resources, go to my.coe.edu > Student Tab > Quick Links.
College Work-Study: The financial aid offer you received (available in your New-Student Forms Portal) lists your balance due as “Your Estimated Direct Cost After Financial Aid for the 2025-2026 Academic Year.” The amount listed is the approximate amount you will pay out of pocket for the academic year (Fall 2025 and Spring 2026) and assumes that if you were awarded work-study, you will apply your earnings to your student account. However, work-study earnings are not automatically credited to your student account and will not be reflected on your billing statement until you work and are paid. During orientation you can complete paperwork that will direct your earnings to your student account. Work-study is paid beginning on September 5, 2025.
Tuition Insurance: Every full-time student is automatically enrolled in the tuition insurance plan, which is offered through Dewar Insurance for $112 per term. You can opt out of the tuition insurance by completing Tuition Insurance Waiver form at my.coe.edu > Student Tab > My Forms by August 21, 2025. The waiver form will be available in mid-July.
Nondirect Costs
Your aid offer lists your direct costs (charges that will be billed to you by Coe). There are other costs you may incur.
- You will need to purchase books. We estimate textbook costs between $300-$500 per term. However, your costs may vary depending on the courses you are taking and where you purchase your books.
- You also may incur transportation and personal costs. We estimate transportation costs at $500-$1,000 per year and personal costs at $1,218-$2,436 per year.
These costs are estimates and will vary from student to student. While Coe does not offer gift aid to assist with these expenses you and/or your parent(s) are allowed to borrow to help cover these costs.
Frequently Asked Questions
Loans, work-study, outside scholarships and more...
Q. How do I borrow my federal loans?
A. If you and your family have decided you want to borrow federal direct loans, the application process is completed online at studentaid.gov. Begin by logging in using your FSAID (used to complete the FAFSA) and complete your Direct Loan Agreement (Master Promissory Note) and Entrance Counseling.
Q. Why is it important to tell the Office of Student Financial Services I have received outside scholarships?
A. All gift aid impacts your federal work and loan eligibility. You should let us know as soon as possible about any outside scholarships you expect to receive by completing our Financial Aid Adjustment Form. Outside scholarships cannot be credited to your bill until the funds are received by Coe College, so make sure your scholarship provider forwards the funds well before your bill is due.
Q. If I need to borrow more to help cover my balance due to Coe, where do I go?
A. There are options! Your parent can borrow the Parent Loan for Undergraduate Students (PLUS). The Parent Loan application is available on studentaid.gov.
You also can pay your balance due with a Private Student Loan. Our office has teamed up with Great Lakes Educational Loan Services to provide you FASTChoice, a search tool for private student loans that have been utilized by Coe students over the past three years. FASTChoice can help you and your family find the right student loan. Please be aware that you will need a credit-worthy co-signer.
Q. How do I decline or reduce my loans?
A. Complete the Financial Aid Adjustment Form or email our office at o-financialaid@coe.edu from your Coe email account.
Q. When can I start applying to work-study positions?
A. If you are eligible for work-study, you can begin applying for jobs in mid-July. Additional information on applying for work-study positions will be sent at the time applications become available.
