College-Owned Apartments

The on-campus Coe apartments offer a variety of options for students to experience nontraditional campus living while still being members of the Coe community.

Primarily made up of upper-class students, these living options feature apartment-style living to help transition students to life after Coe. Students can prepare their own meals or eat in the dining hall.

Brandt, Morris, Schlarbaum and Spivey Houses are located on Coe’s expanded east campus and provide students with an ideal transition from traditional residence hall living to a more independent apartment-style experience, all within a supportive collegiate environment.

Each apartment house accommodates between 28 and 32 students, with most suites featuring four private bedrooms, two bathrooms and a shared kitchen and living area that is designed to offer both privacy and community. These apartments are included in Coe's Housing Selection Process, which is determined by a credits-earned system.

An apartment meal plan is required for students living in these spaces.

The Coe apartments were built thanks to the generosity and vision of alumni:

  • Morris House — named after alumnus Merlin E. "Curly" Morris, '36
  • Schlarbaum House — named after donors Gary '65, and Ruthanne '67 Schlarbaum
  • Brandt House — named in honor of the parents of Joan Brandt Ringoen '50
  • Spivey House — named in honor of the family of Bruce Spivey '56
