Emotional Support Animals (ESA) & Housing Accommodations
Emotional Support Animals (ESAs)
Coe College supports residents keeping Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) in their college housing unit. Any ESA needs to be approved by Accessibility Services & Residence Life before moving into a campus living space.
Coe College requires that an ESA be at least one-year-old and live with the student or student’s family for at least one year. To start the ESA approval process email accessibility@coe.edu.
Residents who bring unapproved animals to campus are fined $100 per day the animal is in the residence halls.
If an ESA is approved by Accessibility Services, the student/animal owner will need to fill out and submit the Handler's Agreement for the Office of Residence Life. (Note: this is not the ESA request form and all approvals need to first go through Accessibility Services.)
More information regarding requirements for having an ESA on-campus can be found here.
Housing Accommodations
Housing Accommodations can be supported for students who have a documented need from a licensed provider (physician, therapist, psychiatrist, etc).
New and returning students should contact Accessibility Services at accessibility@coe.edu to begin the process of seeking approval for housing accommodations.
