Ron Brown Scholar Program
Available to African American high schools seniors, Ron Brown scholarships are in the total amount of $40,000-$10,000 per year. Application materials can be downloaded from the Ron Brown Scholar Program website, printed, and mailed in for consideration. The program offers the added benefit of distributing applications received by November 1 to other reputable scholarship benefactors to be considered for alternate scholarships as well.
- Criteria: Be an African-American high school senior, U.S. citizen
- Submission Deadline: January 9
- Amount: $10,000 annually
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
Through its Mentoring and Leadership Development Program, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides scholarships of up to $30,000 over four years to minority high school students showing leadership potential and demonstrating financial need to attend an accredited 4-year college or university of their choice.

World Class Scholarship
This Mediacom scholarship program is designed to help graduating high school students with their college expenses, such as tuition and books. Applications and instructions are available on their website.

Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation
This organization is offering a variety of scholarships to area students pursuing further education. To apply for these scholarships, students can visit the webpage and ask to receive contact information.

Scholarships for Linn County Students
A collection of scholarships from the Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation, for high school students going to school in Linn County

P.L.A.Y. Scholars for Collars Scholarship
Pet Lifestyle and You offers an annual scholarship to students who have volunteered working with animals. An essay of 500-1,000 words describing the effect of their volunteer work is required to apply.
- Criteria: Be a high school junior or senior
- Submission Deadline: February 26
- Amount: $1,500
Hadden Scholarships
The Youth Foundation awards Hadden Scholarships to high school seniors with an academic plan for college. The online application is available only during the submission window and requires academic information, financial statements, an essay, and two letters of recommendation. Community and extra-curricular engagement is also strongly encouraged. Interviews may be required.
- Criteria: GPA of at least 3.5, Have financial need
- Submission Window: February 1 – March 22
- Amount: up to $5,000 (renewable for up to four years)
Schulze Family Foundation Scholarship
The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation is offering multiple scholarship awards to graduating high school seniors who have unmet need but do not qualify for federal grant assistance. The scholarships are awarded for four consecutive years and are awarded to students who show that they have distinguished themselves through school and community and/or church activities.
- Criteria: Be graduating from an eligible high school, have a GPA of at least 3.0, be a U.S. citizen, show unmet need
- Submission Window: January 4 - March 1
- Amount: $5,000
Sachs Foundation Undergraduate Scholarships
The Sachs Foundation focuses on assisting African American students financially succeed in college. Students who apply must presently reside in Colorado.
- Criteria: Be an African American high school senior residing in Colorado for three years, GPA 3.0
- Submission Window: January 1 - March 15
- Amount: $10,000 - $12,500 per year for 4 years
Horatio Alger Scholarships
The Horatio Alger Association awards State Scholarships to high school juniors - each ranging from $6,000-20,000 - as well as National Scholarships - to 106 students, each for $22,000. An in-depth application can be found on their webpage.
- Criteria: Demonstrate financial need, Be involved in extra-curricular or community service activities, GPA of at least 2.0
- Submission Deadline: December 1 - March 15
- Amount: $6,000-22,000
Dolly Ahrens Achievement Scholarship
Since 1994, the Dolly Ahrens Scholarship Achievement Award has helped fund the college educations of over 200 Grinnell-Newburg High School seniors. "Nominees… should be a self-directed person who is a responsible contributor to the community."
- Criteria: Be a graduating student from Grinnell-Newburg High School
- Submission Window: December 1 - March 7
- Amount: Up to $2,500
Iowa Scholarship of the Arts
The Iowa Arts Council is offering scholarships to Iowa high school seniors who excel in and are pursuing careers in the arts. A full online application can be found on their webpage.
- Criteria: Be pursuing a degree in dance, literature, visual arts, music, or theatre
- Submission Deadline: April 1
- Amount: $3,000
Nick Adenhart Memorial Scholarship
The Kernels foundation is offering this annual scholarship in honor of the late pitcher Nick Adenhart. They are seeking to award a student who is a great teammate, demonstrates hard work and determination, and has a clear vision of their career goal. An application can be found on their website.
- Criteria: Must have played an organized sport in the last two years
- Submission Deadline: April 1
- Amount: $1,000
ISL Midwest Senior Scholarship
Iowa Student Loan offers scholarships to 10 incoming college freshmen from neighboring states.
- Criteria: Current high school seniors from Illinois, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota or Wisconsin who attend college in fall 2024.
- Submission Deadline: April 30
- Amount: $1,000 to 10 students
The Coca-Cola Scholars Program Scholarship
Coca-Cola offers thousands of scholarships to students who create a Coca-Cola scholarships applicant profile and then fill out an online application. Awards are for the following academic year.
- Criteria: GPA of at least 3.0, High School student, U.S. citizen
- Submission Deadline: October 2
- Amount: Up to $20,000 (An average of about $10,000)
The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation College Scholarship Program
Each year, The Jack Kent Cooke Foundation selects 30-40 high school seniors to receive this renewable scholarship. This highly competitive and significant scholarship includes ongoing advising from members of the foundation about transitioning to college and maximizing your college experience.
- Criteria: GPA of at least 3.5, Receive standardized test scores in the top 15%, Demonstrate financial need
- Submission Window: Early September - November
- Amount: Up to $55,000 per year
The Daniels Scholarship Program
The Daniels Scholarship Program offers scholarships and personal support and mentorship to high school seniors with strong character, leadership, and desire to give back to the community. Application includes recommendation letters and a round of interviews for finalists.
- Criteria: Must be a resident of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming. Must be a high school senior, Math/critical reading SAT score of at least 490 each or an ACT score of at least 18, Demonstrate financial need, GPA 3.0
- Submission Window: September 30 - November 15
- Amount: Varies between scholarships, based on unmet need
Iowa Elks Association Scholarship
Male and female students compete separately for a collection of 500 four-year scholarships awarded each year to high school seniors. Applicants are evaluated on the basis of scholarship, leadership, and financial need. 12 finalists will receive scholarships between $20,000 and $50,000 (for all four years) on the basis of interviews to be held in April each year.
- Criteria: Be a citizen of the United States
- Submission Window: September 1 – November 15
- Amount: $1,000-12,500 per academic year
Burger King McLamore Foundation Scholarships
The Burger King McLamore Foundation offers a variety of scholarships to high school seniors who plan to enroll in an accredited college or technical school. Applicants do not have to be related to an employee of Burger King. Recipients are selected based on their grade point average, work experience, extracurricular activities, and community service.
