State of the College
Each fall, Coe College reflects on the milestones we've reached and the opportunities that lie ahead through our annual State of the College appeal. This message, from President David Hayes '93, highlights the achievements of the past year and the exciting prospects as we continue to grow and thrive. Here are a few key highlights from this year's State of the College letter, offering a glimpse into the remarkable progress we've made and the promising future we are building together:
'This year we share a collective passion for Coe’s future, which has led to exceptional accomplishments in both academics, campus engagement and athletics. I’m proud to highlight some of our recent successes: four students were finalists for, or awarded, prestigious national fellowships and scholarships, including the Goldwater, Gilman, Truman and Fulbright awards. In athletics, all of Coe celebrated when Cale Schmitt was named Division III Academic All-American Team Member of the Year for men’s basketball, a testament to our student-athletes’ excellence both on and off the court. Of Coe’s 26 athletic teams, 50% of teams or individual athletes qualified for postseason national tournaments, with 13 teams represented on the national stage, including 5 conference championships.'
...'As we navigate these evolving times, we are guided by three key principles: safeguarding our community, adapting to change, and striving for growth. These values will continue to inform our decisions as we address current challenges, while also embracing new opportunities to enhance the student experience and ensure a strong future for Coe.'

'The financial health of Coe College is crucial to its sustainability. Our approach balances competing financial priorities while fostering growth and innovation at our college.'
...This evolution will not alter Coe’s mission but will strengthen it. To thrive in today’s disrupted landscape, we must seize new opportunities while thoughtfully addressing the challenges before us. By protecting our foundation, pivoting when needed and focusing on long-term prosperity, we will ensure Coe remains a vibrant institution for generations to come.'
