The internationally recognized group Ensemble Chaconne will present "European Masters in 18th Century England" on Thursday, October 11 at 7:30 p.m. in Daehler-Kitchin Auditorium on the Coe College campus. This event is free and open to the public.
The program is an historically informed performance of Renaissance and Baroque works by J.C. Bach, Carl Friedrich Abel, Johann Christian Fischer, and a total of a dozen composers.
Founded in 1985, Ensemble Chaconne has enjoyed over 25 years of success playing in some of the world’s most prestigious venues. The group has performed everywhere from London's National Gallery to Atlanta's Spivey Hall, with performances at the Gainsborough's House Museum in Sudbury (UK), the Yale Center for British Art and many places throughout the United States.
In 2009, the group was named to Early Music America's North American Touring Roster, one of only 33 ensembles to receive this honor. Ensemble Chaconne specializes in period-instrumental music from classic masterpieces to recently discovered works. Members of the group include Peter Bloom (baroque flute), Carol Lewis (viola de gamba), and Olav Chris Henriksen (baroque lute and English guitar).
This event is sponsored by Friends of Music at Coe. For more information call 399-8521.
