Coe College recently received a Social Wellness Award in recognition of its efforts to promote employee health. Each year the Linn County Worksite Wellness Committee selects award winners incorporating one or more of the seven dimensions of wellness into the workplace — vocational, social, emotional, physical, financial, environmental and spiritual. A total of eight awards were presented to worksites that exemplify each dimension of wellness along with an overall worksite innovation award.
Winners were announced at the Worksite Wellness Summit at Elmcrest Country Club on June 21. Coe received the Social Wellness Award, demonstrating the college’s emphasis on living in harmony with fellow human beings, seeking positive, interdependent relationships with others and developing healthy behaviors.
Coe College was selected for this honor as a result of its strategies to increase employee and family participation in health promotion programs; the newly created "Kohawk Talk" newsletter, which recognizes behind-the-scenes champions on campus; and its support for employee involvement in committees, activities, volunteering and more within the greater Cedar Rapids community.
"We are honored to be recognized as an organization committed to the health and wellness of our employees. Our commitment is holistic, and we strive every day to improve employee health and well-being through education, support, communication and systems that create opportunities for social well-being and celebration," Coe College Director of Human Resources Kristina Bridges said.
Coe College offers superb academics and exciting co-curricular activities in a thriving urban setting that promotes student growth and success. Established in 1851, Coe has a national reputation for academic excellence enhanced by a student-centered, highly supportive campus environment. Coe's vibrant Cedar Rapids location provides an abundance of internships for students and career opportunities for graduates.
