Artist Exhibitions: Laura Gleissner + Ian Huebert

Laura Gleissner is the new Gallery Director in the University of Northern Iowa (UNI) Gallery of Art. She is a native of Waverly, Iowa and earned a Bachelor of Arts from UNI and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Northern Illinois University (NIU). She is an abstract painter with a concentration in oil and mixed media and was the Gallery Director of the Bing-Davis Memorial Gallery on the Upper Iowa University (UIU) campus and Associate Professor of Art at UIU in Fayette, Iowa for the past 8 years. Gleissner has lived and worked in Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Japan, and Italy and enjoys leading art-intensive national and international programing for students, faculty, staff, and community members. She has a 2-year old girl, Maelyn, and Husband, Jim. In her free time, Gleissner travels, spends time with family and friends, enjoys cooking, and making and seeing art. Website: www.lauracolby.com

Ian Huebert is a printmaker and illustrator living in Iowa City, Iowa. Through the Picture Press, he makes printed editions and artworks, with an emphasis on relief and letterpress printing. Ian has a background in commercial illustration and fine arts. He earned an MFA from the University of Iowa Center for the Book in 2017 as an Iowa Arts Fellow. His work has appeared in nationally distributed publications and is held in numerous public collections, including the Library of Congress. (Fun fact- he letterpress printed the posters that you see on campus!
