Coe College Marquis Series presents harpist and solo artist Lara Somogyi at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21. The concert will be held in the Daehler-Kitchin Auditorium in Marquis Hall on Coe’s campus.

Professors from thirteen nationally ranked liberal arts colleges attended a seminar in Lexington, KY to discuss the role of digital technology in a liberal arts education. The Transylvania Seminar focuses on how liberal arts institutions can prepare students for the challenges, pitfalls and opportunities of the digital era.

The 30th annual Coe College Thursday Forum series kicks off September 6 with an in-depth look at maintaining cognitive brain health through the ages. Coe College invites all who are looking to expand their knowledge to attend this Thursday Forum series.

Erin Salisbury ’12 (public relations and sociology major) is a trailblazer in her field. She was recently awarded two top honors — Young Professional of the Year by PRmoment and 30 Under 30 by PRWeek UK — both distinguished accolades within the public relations world.

Coe invites all who are looking to expand their knowledge to attend its 2018-2019 Thursday Forum series. This is the thirtieth anniversary season of the program. In thirty years, thousands of community members have attended and more than 150 people have presented at Thursday Forum.

Manish Khadka ’14 (accounting major) — originally from Kathmandu, Nepal — was looking for a liberal arts experience with the ideal combination of academics and social activities. Once he discovered the small class sizes, highly regarded academic programs and cultural diversity at Coe, he knew he found his home away from home. Khadka’s four years at Coe were filled with such positivity that he decided to write a book to help other international students have a similar experience.

According to The Princeton Review, Coe College is one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education. Coe is featured in the 2019 edition of its flagship college guide, "The Best 384 Colleges."

Cyndi Kies Elsbury '87 and Mike Elsbury '89 let their sons decide where they wanted to pursue their college education. That four Elsbury sons followed their footsteps at Coe is icing on the parental cake.

Coe College recently received a Social Wellness Award in recognition of its efforts to promote employee health. Each year the Linn County Worksite Wellness Committee selects award winners incorporating one or more of the seven dimensions of wellness into the workplace — vocational, social, emotional, physical, financial, environmental and spiritual. A total of eight awards were presented to worksites that exemplify each dimension of wellness along with an overall worksite innovation award.

Collin Wilkinson, Coe College Class of 2018, has been named runner-up for a 2017-18 Society of Physics Students Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award.

Courtney Humpal, Eden Brazeau, Ali Arns, Aryn Meisinger and Jessy Holen were honored by Wellington, New Zealand, police for saving a man’s life while exploring the city.

oe College Assistant Professor of Psychology Renee Penalver has been named a 2018-2019 Engaged Scholar Research Fellow by Iowa Campus Compact.

Recent Coe College graduate Anthony DeCeanne has been awarded one of two prestigious R.J. McElroy Trust Fellowships for graduate study.
