Wilderness Field Station: Operations and Education Manager and Station Chef

Coe College is hiring for two summer positions at our undergraduate teaching field station located near Ely, Minnesota, and the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

The Wilderness Field Station is off the grid, and courses revolve around giving students exposure to the wilderness environment around them. We host 15-25 students at a time, along with associated staff, faculty and visitors. Coe is actively working to improve the sustainability of our field station.

Both positions begin in mid-June and end mid-August, and room and board are included. These positions are not benefit eligible but are paid by stipend. Station Chef Qualifications:

  • Minnesota Certified Food Manager Certification from the MN Department of Health.
  • Prior experience or training in food service, especially for large groups.
  • Successful completion of a background and driver checks in accordance with Coe College Policy.

Operations and Education Manager Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience planning and leading wilderness trips in an educational context.
  • Wilderness First Responder certification. 
  • Knowledge of the Ely, MN community useful but not necessary. 
  • Successful completion of a background and driver checks in accordance with Coe College Policy.
