Visiting Instructor in Spanish
Coe College invites applications from dynamic, student-centered individuals for a one semester replacement position in the Program of Spanish to begin in Fall of 2025.
Primary responsibilities include:
Teaching lower level language classes and intermediate courses for the Spanish major. The ability to teach a Spanish for Health Care and a specialization area focusing on Mexico is also desirable.
Required Qualifications:
- M.A. or higher in Spanish, or a related field strongly preferred.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.
- Demonstrate a commitment to excellent teaching, including the use of inclusive pedagogies along with strong mentoring and academic support of diverse undergraduate student populations.
Department profile:
The Spanish Program offers a Bachelor of Arts degree for the Spanish majors, and a minor that is in the top five most popular minors of the college. The program supports several identity clubs that teach leadership and create community for the different Latinx students. Most of the students in the program pursue another major so our program consists of a group of students with different academic interests. The Spanish program also appeals to a great number of heritage speakers on campus as well as non-natives speakers and because of this the program strive to support a diverse and welcoming environment for faculty and students alike. Additional faculty and professionals in other departments within the College as well as other nearby institutions provide excellent opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
