The Department of Foreign Languages at Coe College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish with a focus on one or more of the following areas: LatinX/Border Studies, Mexican literary/cultural studies, Central American literary/cultural studies. The appointment begins in Fall 2020.
Primary responsibilities of this position include teaching a variety of introductory and upper-level courses with a course load of 3:3 with class sizes ranging from 10 to 20 students. The successful candidate will embrace Coe’s student-centered approach to education. We expect applicants to have at least near-native proficiency in Spanish, a Ph.D. in Spanish or a related field completed upon commencement of the position, and experience teaching college-level Spanish.
The candidate must be prepared to teach Spanish at all levels, including elementary and intermediate language.
We prefer candidates with an ability to teach Spanish for heritage speakers and Spanish for the professions.
