Brett Wolgast

Brett Wolgast is College Organist and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at Coe College in Cedar Rapids. At the college, he oversees the Applied Keyboard area as well as the Music Theory area. Dr. Wolgast is also Cantor at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, where he serves as organist and director of instrumental ensembles. He has also served on the music faculties at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, and Cornell College in Mt. Vernon.

Dr. Wolgast was the winner of two national competitions: the American Guild of Organists Open Competition in Organ Playing, and the Ft. Wayne, Indiana National Organ Competition. He has performed on both piano and organ throughout the United States as a guest recitalist for AGO chapters and conventions as well as church and civic concert series. Brett Wolgast is active in the field of church music having served as organist/choir director/worship coordinator for several churches in the Midwest as well as a clinician for sacred music workshops and classes. He is a member of the American Guild of Organists and the Association of Lutheran Church Musicians serving on regional boards and planning committees in both organizations, and has published articles and reviews in the ALCM’s periodical Cross Accents
