Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education

Lovegood is currently in his sixteenth year of teaching overall, and his first year as the Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  He conducts Concert Choir and Crimson Singers, coordinates and coaches applied voice, supervises student teacher placements, teaches secondary choral methods, and is an active recruiter for the college.  He has taught previously at both the high school and community college levels in Iowa.

He earned his Master’s in Music Education at the VanderCook College of Music.  He completed his Bachelors of Music in Vocal Music Education from Coe College.  He is an active member of Iowa Choral Directors Association, having served as 2019 Summer Symposium Co-Chair, SWI Representative, 2016 9th Grade Opus Honor Choir Conductor, R&R Chair for Two-Year Colleges and Treasurer for the NCACDA.  He is currently President-Elect for ICDA.  He has enjoyed work as a clinician and judge for IHSMA, choirs, show choirs, and private voice work.  Lovegood enjoys spending time with friends and family, his husband, Matthew, and his son, Ramsey.
