During the Summer Component, the seventy-five students served by the Coe College Upward Bound Program come and live on campus for six weeks. A typical week involves students arriving on Sunday between 7:00-9:00 p.m. and leaving each Friday between 3:30-5:00 p.m. During the four day class week, students take classes in Language Arts, Mathematics, Reading, Foreign Language, Science, Study Skills and ECCO (Exploring College and Career Options). In addition to class work, the week is fully scheduled with social, recreational and cultural activities. Students live in one of the Residence Halls at Coe College and eat meals in the Coe College cafeteria.
There is no cost to the student's family for their participation in the Coe College Upward Bound Program. We also provide for students a stipend of $15.00 per week for personal expenses during the summer program.
At the end of the summer component, the students who have earned it are invited to attend a three day trip to a major city. During this trip we visit museums, colleges, and local attractions. We also spend time at some type of amusement park, and go shopping.
