Residence Hall Director

A. EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  1. BA degree preferred

B. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  1. High degree of interpersonal and communication skills.
  2. Ability to supervise college age staff.
  3. Experience with disadvantaged/low income and minority students helpful.
  4. A personal history of overcoming barriers, in pursuing post-secondary education, similar to those faced by our student population is helpful.

C. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Development of residential hall staff training program for Tutor/Counselors, Assistant Resident Hall Director, and Assistant Activity Director.
  2. Development and supervision of residential hall program.
  3. Development of residential hall supervision schedule with staff assignments.
  4. Supervision of Tutor/Counselors.
  5. Organization of bi-weekly residence hall meetings with staff and students.
  6. Maintain student residence hall/social progress and evaluation reports.
  7. Maintain residence hall rules and regulations with reports to Project Director.
  8. Provide a final written evaluation of Summer Residence Component and effectiveness of Tutor/Counselors.
  9. Other assigned duties.

Assistant Residence Hall Director

A. EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  1. BA degree preferred

C. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop training program for staff on the summer food service program, the Daily Sheet, and Extended Study.
  2. Aid the Upward Bound Director in the coordination and implementation of the U.S. Department of Agriculture Summer Food Service Program for Children.
  3. Assist the Residence Hall Director in supervision and evaluation of Tutor/Counselors.
  4. Compile, develop, and distribute the Daily Sheet (An Information Sheet for Students/Staff).
  5. Coordinate and Supervise Extended Study.
  6. Monitor and maintain medication logs for Upward Bound students living in the residence halls.
  7. Assist the Activity Director in coordinating the transportation of students.

Assistant Activity Director

A. EDUCATION REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  1. BA degree preferred

B. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  1. High degree of interpersonal and communication skills.
  2. Ability to supervise college age staff.
  3. Experience with disadvantaged/low-income, and minority students helpful.
  4. A personal history of overcoming barriers, in pursuing post-secondary education, similar to those faced by our student population is helpful.
  5. Activity or Recreational Services experience helpful.

C. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Develop training program for staff on the philosophy of core groups, core group activities, the core group competition and how to request needed class materials.
  2. Aid the Upward Bound Director in the coordination and acquisition of materials needed by classroom teachers and Tutor/Counselors.
  3. Assist the Residence Hall Director in supervision and evaluation of Tutor/Counselors.
  4. Coordinate and implement the Core Group Competition.
  5. Assist the Academic Advisor/Counselor in confirming activities and transportation of students.
  6. Assist the Academic Advisor/Counselor in coordinating the transportation of students.

Tutors/Counselors (Summer Program)

A. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION

  1. Demonstrated success and continued enrollment in post-secondary education program of study.
  2. High degree of interpersonal communication skills.
  3. Ability to relate with students from disadvantaged low-income background and/or with inadequate secondary school preparation.
  4. Experience in Upward Bound and/or Student Support Services Project helpful.
  5. A personal history of overcoming barriers, in pursuing post-secondary education, similar to those faced by our student population helpful.

B. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Participation in training program.
  2. Act as a teacher assistant to assigned summer staff member.
  3. Develop and teach an Interest course.
  4. Provide tutorial assistance to Project students.
  5. Implement daily work duties as assigned by the Residence Hall Director.
  6. Assist in the development and supervision of Core Group meetings and activities.
  7. Attend all mealsAssist in supervision of activity periods.
  8. Participate in weekend activities Maintain Core Group, Interest Class and Residence Hall Reports and Evaluations.
  9. Other assigned duties.
