Do you have a passion for exploring your area of interest beyond the classroom? To really find out and answer the hows and whys? Regardless of your major, you'll have ample opportunity to delve deeper into your subject through student research opportunities.
- Are you passionate about your subject? Work with a faculty member! Put it on paper! You can present your scholarly research at the annual Student Research Symposium.
- Imagine sampling aquatic organisms in the pristine waters of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area at the Wilderness Field Station in northern Minnesota. While staying in rustic but comfortable housing, you can challenge yourself mentally and physically by exploring a hands-on small group or individual project in a setting filled with diverse habitats and species and innumerable subjects for painting and writing.
- How does conducting tropical field research in Costa Rica or Tanzania sound? You can explore the region's diverse climatic and ecological zones, including tropical coastal areas and rain forests, saltwater marshes, fertile farming areas, subalpine regions, mountains up to 12,000 feet, and active volcanoes.
- Want to work alongside experienced scientists? Work with our faculty or take advantage of our Oak Ridge Science Semester at the National Laboratory in Tennessee where you can assist with ongoing research utilizing their sophisticated equipment.
