The Coe Plan
The Coe
Plan helps you draw connections between your outstanding
liberal arts classroom education with a practicum experience
such as an internship, study abroad term, or research experience.
This practicum experience is meant to heighten your preparation
for life after college. To equip you for your practicum
experience, five preparation components are in place.
Many of these preparation components (Resume Writing, Interview
skills) are facilitated through the Career Services office.
For more information contact Administrative
Assistant.
Individual Counseling
Deciding on a major, writing
a resume, planning and implementing
a job search, career explorationthese are just some
of the topics that can be covered with career counselors in individual
appointments. After you check out our Web site, come to
Career Services to make use of our resources. Individual
appointments with a career counselor are available to students
or alumni interested in discussing their career paths or job searches.

Workshops
Career Services' staff members are experts in resume writing,
interview preparation (including individual video-taped mock interview
sessions) and job search techniques. Workshops discussing the
process of applying to graduate school or obtaining an internship
are also part of the counseling staff expertise. Staff are available
upon request to present customized workshops to groups, classes
and student organizations during meeting times. Be sure
to check out our calendar of events.
Career Inventories
Career Services utilizes the Campbell Interest and Skill Survey,
the Strong Interest Inventory, and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator
as well as several additional assessments for those exploring
careers and self. Career counselors interpret the test results
for students and alumni and discuss how this information can be
used in the career exploration process. Please stop in Career
Services if you are interested in exploring your interests through
one of our inventories. More information, email Director
of Career Services or Administrative

in order to explore a career area of interest. Internship postings
are available in the Resource Library or students may make an
appointment to receive guidance in securing an internship. For

that highlights some of the latest and greatest internships, full-time
and part-time job offerings to come through our office.
On-Campus Recruiting

connect with employers. The (IPCCC)
Iowa Private College Career Consortium brings employers to students
for fall and spring interviewing. Interview opportunities are
available with state-wide, national, and international organizations
representing industries ranging from finance to health care and
from human services to information technology.
Coe Alumni Career Network

and they can also serve as networking contacts during a job or
internship search. Counselors at Career Services work with students
to make connections with alumni in the students areas of
interest.

Career Services' Resource Library contains valuable information
for all stages of career planning. Books, directories, videos
and CDs are available to help students explore occupations, find
internships and summer jobs, research career fields, learn more
about particular companies, and choose graduate schools.
