What
is the Academic Achievement Program?
- In 1978, The Academic Achievement Program was established
at Coe College to promote academic excellence, personal development
and retention of college students who are traditionally under-represented
in post-secondary education because of family educational background,
income, or disability.
- The Academic Achievement Program is
funded by a Federal TRIO Grant (SSS) under the US Department
of Education. Over
950 such programs exist at colleges and universities across
the United States.
- The TRIO Program at Coe College is funded to
serve 210 students. Selection is based on academic merit. To
enroll, use the online
application (PDF) or contact the Academic Achievement
Office.
- Eligibility
for TRIO is determined by federal regulations. To qualify,
a student must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident and
meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Be a first generation college student (neither parent
has graduated from a four year
college or university)
- Meet
federal low family income guidelines
- Have
a verifiable physical or learning disability
