Kohawks everywhere will unite in support of their alma mater for the fourth annual Coe College Day of Giving, set for Thursday, April 12. The special day will be a celebration of all things Coe, and include the opportunity for alumni and friends to share memories, show their Kohawk pride, and contribute to the college.
Primarily conducted through social media, the Coe Day of Giving will be highlighted by Kohawks re-engaging with the college. Throughout the day, videos and updates will be shared. Alumni and friends are encouraged to express their Coe pride and memories by posting comments, photos or videos using the #KohawkDay hash tag. Thanks to the generous contributions from many challenge leaders, every gift made to the college on April 12 will be matched to multiply their impact.
Last year, more than $200,000 was raised through the Day of Giving program. The 2017 Day of Giving was successful not only in terms of the financial support for the college, but also in terms of overall participation. Coe had more than 100 first-time donors give during the event, while the number of young alumni contributors grew by nearly 20 percent. Alumni and friends of the college also readily engaged in social media during Day of Giving, with nearly 18,000 post views. Kohawks from 48 states participated, with members of the classes of 2013, 2016 and 2017 making the most gifts.
The Day of Giving includes celebrations across the United States, with a large event and an on-campus celebration planned for students, faculty and staff in Cedar Rapids. Celebrating with fellow alumni and supporting their alma mater, the Day of Giving provides more than 5,000 Coe alumni living in Eastern Iowa with an opportunity to proudly wear their crimson and gold.
"The Day of Giving is a fun and creative way for our community to celebrate and expand the impact gifts have on the lives of our students," said Vice President for Advancement David Hayes. "We are grateful for the enthusiastic Kohawk spirit and generous support Coe receives from alumni and friends on this special day."
