Synergy Winds from the 34th Army Band to perform at Coe

Synergy Winds from the 34th Army Band will perform in an upcoming concert on the Coe College campus. The performance will be held on Monday, Jan. 29, beginning at 4 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium. Tickets are not required for the event, which is free and open to the public.

The performance will include "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" by Mozart, arranged Sjoerd van der Veen, "Danzi Quintet g-moll" by Danzi and Franz, "Five Easy Dances" by Denes Agay, "Celebrate America" arranged by Lloyd Conley, and "Aria & Quodlibet" by Arne Running.

Immediately following the performance, the group will rehearse with members of the Coe College Concert Band. Audience members are welcome to stay during the rehearsal.

About Synergy Winds

Synergy Winds is an ensemble formed by the 34th Army Band stationed in Fairfield, Iowa, which is comprised of citizen-soldier musicians. They assemble one weekend a month plus 15 annual training days each year to perform and support various civilian and military ceremonies. Members are from Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska and Missouri. The band's numerous ensembles have extensively toured Iowa and performed on both national and world stages.

As the official military band of Iowa, the unit has enjoyed performing for many state functions, such as the governor's inauguration, official visits of United States dignitaries including the President of the United States, and numerous foreign leaders.

During state emergencies, the band has supported the needs of local communities in multiple roles from providing support to flood-stricken Iowa communities to assisting stranded motorists during winter storms.

Music plays a significant role in the Army. The 34th Army Band is involved in the vibrant tradition of performing at official military ceremonies, sporting events, parades, concerts, festivals, school assemblies, patriotic concerts and many other events. Musicians perform in a variety of ensembles ranging from ceremonial band to jazz band to small ensembles, playing all styles of music.
