Hy-Vee and Coe College are partnering to host a KidsFit event on Saturday, June 17 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at Clark Field. This kid-friendly fitness event will feature physical activities, agility games, mini races, celebrity speakers and more. The event is free and intended for kids ages 7 - 13.
All kids in attendance (if registered by June 1) will receive a free t-shirt, complimentary goodie bag filled with snacks, and a water bottle sponsored by Atlantic Bottling Company.
At this Freedom Festival-affiliated event, participants will have the opportunity to take photos with several area mascots and be encouraged by motivational speakers Daira Driftmier, director of Hy-Vee KidsFit; Fred Jackson, former Kohawk and NFL-Buffalo Bills standout; and Marvin McNutt, former Iowa Hawkeye football player and current head coach of the Cedar Rapids Titans.
"Hy-Vee KidsFit is intended to help engage the whole family to move more, and we want to show kids how fitness can be fun," said Driftmier. "We're thrilled to partner with Coe for this event."
Breakout sessions will be led by the Coe College Football Team, Cedar Rapids Metro YMCAs, the Cedar Rapids Titans, Hy-Vee Dietitians, Little Sports and Prestige Dance Studio.
