The Coe College Music Department will present the second annual Faculty and Friends of Music Concert, with guest faculty artist Dr. Loralee Songer. Featuring the music of Beethoven and Mozart as well as contemporary Spanish songs, the event will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, beginning at 7 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium. It is free and open to the public, with a reception to follow in Clark Alumni House.

Sponsored by Friends of Music at Coe, the Faculty and Friends of Music Concert series brings together students, faculty members and community members for an out-of-the-box orchestral experience. The crux of this series is to feature Coe Music Department faculty, as well as facilitate direct student-faculty interaction and hands-on learning. During the concert, Coe faculty members will play alongside their students, so the students can learn about ensemble leadership by example. Each year, a different faculty member performs as the soloist with the Coe College Symphony Orchestra.

In this concert, Songer will perform "Cinco canciones negras" by Xavier Montsalvatge with the Coe Symphony Orchestra. The Coe music faculty also endeavors to get out of traditional comfort zones with this series to bring audiences new and different concert experiences. For this concert, The Coe Symphony Orchestra will perform Beethoven's "Symphony No. 1" with no conductor.
