Duplan, Patterson to read from their poetry at Coe

Poets Anaïs Duplan and Juliet Patterson will be reading from their new books on Thursday, Feb. 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Perrine Gallery in Stewart Memorial Library on the Coe College campus. The event is open to the public at no charge.

Duplan was born in Jacmel, Haiti. She is the director of a performance collective called "The Spacesuits" and also leads The Center for Afrofuturist Studies, an artist residency program in Iowa City. Her first book, "Take This Stallion," was published in 2016. Duplan is an MFA candidate at the Iowa Writers' Workshop.

Patterson is the author of "Threnody and The Truant Lover" (Nightboat Books) and the chapbooks "Epilogue" and "Dirge." Her poems and essays have appeared widely in numerous magazines. She lives in Minneapolis with her partner and son.
