Internationally acclaimed musicians to perform Clementi for two pianists at Coe

Internationally acclaimed musicians Gustavo Romero and Massimo Somenzi will perform the complete works of Muzio Clementi for two pianists on Monday, March 28, beginning at 8 p.m. in Sinclair Auditorium on the Coe College campus. The event is open to the public at no charge.

Each of these artists has performed individually, as well as in duo, concerto and music settings, in the U.S., Europe and the Far East, concertizing with renowned musicians and the world's leading orchestras. The Romero-Somenzi duo last appeared at Coe in 2010, performing the complete music of Mozart for piano in four hands.

The Washington Post has called Romero "a pianist of genius." The musician regularly performs with leading orchestras including the New York Philharmonic, the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the Boston Pops, and others worldwide. Romero is a graduate of the Julliard School and a faculty member of the piano department at the University of North Texas at Denton.

Pianist and chamber music specialist Massimo Somenzi is a native of Venice, Italy. He graduated from the Venice Conservatory with a special recommendation of merit as the best piano student. Somenzi performs worldwide and is currently a piano professor at the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory of Music in Venice.

Romero and Somenzi are accomplished performers of the work of Mozart. The musicians are regularly invited to be on juries of prestigious music competitions in Italy. In addition, both give master classes and piano and chamber music internationally. Romero and Somenzi have completed numerous recordings and maintain full concert careers in addition to their teaching schedules.
