Local artist and gallery owner Priscilla Steele will present an art show at Coe College featuring her work in drawing and printmaking. Entitled "Eat, Sleep, DRAW," the exhibition will be on display in the Marvin Cone and Eaton-Buchan Galleries of Sinclair Auditorium beginning on Friday, Feb. 26. The exhibition will run through Sunday, March 20, with gallery hours 4-6 p.m. daily.
Steele will present a gallery talk on Tuesday, March 15, at 7 p.m. in the Sinclair galleries. A closing reception will be held on Saturday, March 19, from 2-4 p.m. in the Sinclair Auditorium lobby. The exhibit and all of the related events are open to the public at no charge.
The co-owner of the Campbell Steele Gallery in Marion and a former art instructor at Coe College, Steele produces large- and small-scale artworks that seek to communicate the beauty and complexity of life.
Drawing directly from either human or botanical subjects, Steele enjoys the spontaneity and immediacy of the creative process. These themes have fueled her lifelong pursuit of art that reflects her fundamental confidence in the expressive power of drawing. Equally expressive are Steele’s mixed media objects inspired by her teaching, travels and day-to-day work.
