Prospective students who visit the Coe campus during Iowa Private College Week (IPCW) will learn about everything the college and the Cedar Rapids area have to offer during the "Student Takeover," Aug. 3-7. In addition, campus visitors will be eligible to receive special Cedar Rapids prize packages that will be given away each session during the weeklong event.
All IPCW activities at Coe will be entirely planned and presented by current students. For the second year, the event will feature business and civic leaders from the Cedar Rapids community who will highlight the opportunities available for Coe students in the Creative Corridor.
This "Student Takeover" event will have tours and information sessions available beginning at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. daily. Each session departs from Phifer Commons in Gage Memorial Union.
"Iowa Private College Week provides a great opportunity for students to visit Cedar Rapids and see Coe for themselves," said McCall Meade, student co-coordinator for the event. "Having a completely student-led program allows us to showcase what my fellow students and I love most about our Coe experiences. In addition, we are eager to share with our guests why Cedar Rapids is the perfect college town."
Alison Antes, workforce strategist for the Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance, is one of the community professionals who will be speaking with visitors during IPCW.
"The Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance is happy to partner with Coe during Iowa Private College Week," said Antes. "Having the opportunity for students to interact with businesses and community leaders as well as learn about volunteer opportunities in Iowa's Creative Corridor is key to ensuring that students know what the region has to offer."

About Iowa Private College Week
Sponsored statewide by the Iowa Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, 2015 marks the 17th year for the annual campus visit program, held at 26 participating non-profit private colleges and universities. Campus tours help students learn about strong academics, high graduation and job placement rates, and financial aid that makes private colleges an affordable and great option.
After each visit, students will receive a stamp in an IPCW passport. With three or more stamps (limit two per day), students will be eligible for a drawing for one of 52 bookstore vouchers valued at $500 each.
In addition, during the week of the event a partnership with Casey's General Stores will offer families who present a valid IPCW passport a 5-cent per gallon discount on gasoline purchases of up to 30 gallons per day.
