Dr. Sharon Stephenson of Gettysburg College will speak informally on "Innovations in Nuclear Energy" in a "Cosmic Café" community event. The presentation will be held at Tomaso's Pizza at 1061 North Center Point Road, Hiawatha, on Saturday, April 12, beginning at 7 p.m. Pizza and soda will be served, and the public is invited to participate at no charge.

Developed by the Coe College Physics Department, the purpose of the "Cosmic Café" series is to introduce the latest in scientific discoveries to the community using an easily understandable approach. After a short presentation, Stephenson will lead discussion on nuclear energy and answer questions from the attendees.

Stephenson has served as a physics professor at Gettysburg since 1997, and for the past three years she has been the chair of the physics department. She holds a bachelor's degree in physics from Millsaps College and a Ph.D. in physics from North Carolina State University.

The event is sponsored by the Coe College Physics Club and the Society of Physics Students.
