Rob Hogg will discuss climate change in an upcoming presentation at Coe College entitled "Remember Hurricane Sandy - And Unite For Climate Action." The event will be held on Monday, Oct. 28 at 8 p.m. in Kesler Lecture Hall of Hickok Hall. Sponsored by the Coe Sustainability Council and Coe Environmental Club, the program is open to the public at no charge.
Hogg is a state senator from Cedar Rapids serving his second term after two terms in the Iowa House. He is the author of a new book, "America's Climate Century," in which he calls on Americans to make the fight against climate change - reducing greenhouse gases and safeguarding people and property against future climate disasters - for America's new national purpose.
This appearance is part of Hogg's "climate action tour" of Iowa colleges and universities. During the week of Oct. 22 to 29, Hogg will be encouraging Iowans to remember Hurricane Sandy, its victims and survivors, and the victims and survivors of all climate-related disasters. He argues that the damage from Hurricane Sandy shows what is at stake with climate change, and he asserts that it may prove to be the turning point at which Americans demanded climate action.
