Coe art exhibit to feature the multi-media exhibition "Minnesota Grown"

Coe College will host "Minnesota Grown," a multi-media exhibition featuring artwork from five artists living and working in the Twin Cities. All five artists work for the Department for Art at the University of Minnesota. The exhibition will be on display in the Marvin Cone and Eaton-Buchan Galleries of Sinclair Auditorium, with an opening reception in the Sinclair lobby on Friday, Oct. 25, from 5 - 7 p.m. All of the events are free and open to the public, with gallery hours from 4 - 6 p.m. daily from Oct. 26 through Nov. 16.

In addition, there will be gallery talks by guest artists Mark Knierim and Kelsey Bosch on Saturday, Nov. 16, beginning at 3 p.m.

Brief biographies of the artists who are exhibiting at the show are as follows:

Kelsey Bosch is an interdisciplinary, Twin Cities-based artist. She received her BFA from the University of Minnesota in 2009, with an emphasis on painting and video.

Jim Gubernick is a ceramic artist who earned his MFA in ceramics from the University of Colorado - Boulder in 1991.

Sonja Peterson received her MFA in drawing and painting from the University of Minnesota in 2009. Her show, "Seemingly Useless Parts," is currently on display at the Burnet Gallery at Le Méridien Chambers, Minneapolis.

Mark Knierim is a sculpture and installation artist. He received his MFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) in 1995.

Paul Linden received his MFA in sculpture in 2002 from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.
