Coe College has registered a record 1,249 full-time students for fall term, up from the 1,220 full-time students enrolled last fall, and on pace to maintain the historically stable enrollment at the college. The academic profile of the incoming class remained strong, with an average ACT score of 25.8 and grade point average of 3.6.
Coe received a record 2,156 applications for admission for the fall of 2008, the highest number in the college's history. From this applicant pool, a total of 405 students enrolled at the college for the first time, the second most in school history. A residential college, Coe has a record 1,049 students in campus housing this fall.
Coe has 1,326 full and part-time students registered for fall term 2008. Part-time student enrollment decreased slightly from one year ago, at 77 students. This year's Coe class represents 21 states and 11 foreign countries.
"With impressive average test scores and grade point averages, our first-year students continue the tradition of academic excellence at Coe," said Coe President James Phifer. "The academic profile of each of the last four entering classes has established the college at a new plateau of selectivity. In addition, our overall full-time student numbers indicate historically strong and stable enrollment."
