At Coe you can earn a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) or a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) with a major in music. The Coe Music Department seeks to provide the highest quality pre-professional undergraduate music training possible in the areas of performance, elementary and secondary vocal and instrumental teaching, and theory and composition. All Coe students are encouraged to participate in music as part of their liberal arts education.

Program Highlights:

  • Coe's music facility, Marquis Hall, includes a music library with an excellent and comprehensive collection, spacious rehearsal areas, an electronic music and recording studio, classrooms, teaching studios, and individual practice rooms.
  • Sinclair Auditorium, connected to Marquis Hall, provides a concert hall with a large stage and seating for more than 1,000.
  • Daehler-Kitchin Auditorium is a 230-seat performance venue in Marquis Hall that is used for recitals and small group performances.
  • The department provides a broad range of opportunities for study and participation in both performance and music courses by students who may not intend to pursue music as a profession.
