Nepal - Uzir Thapa; firstname.lastname@example.org Uzir is majoring in Computer science and Environmental Studies. Coe was recommended to him by his sister who spoke of the fun atmosphere and quality academics of the school. He writes "The best thing about Coe is the people. All the people are very friendly and open to new ideas. So being an international student, it was not so hard to fit in with the community."
Cambodia - Punisa Pov; email@example.com Nisa received a scholarship to study at Coe. She plays a Cambodian traditional musical instrument called "Roneat Aek" and performs every year at the International Club's Cultural show. She believes that Coe is "A perfect place to study with a diverse group of students and to share my culture with others."
Vietnam - Thanh Bach; firstname.lastname@example.org Thanh is a senior with majors in Chemistry and Biochemistry. She has been the international club secretary and cultural chair as well as an international diplomat. Thanh says "Coe's community, with its great diversity and enthusiastic spirit, has introduced me to unimaginable learning and social experiences, and I hope that it would be true for everyone else."

International Faculty and Staff
Spain - Monica Fuertes-Arboix - Spanish; email@example.com From a small town in the province of Barcelona, Professor Fuertes-Arboix She holds two philology degrees, one in German by the University of Barcelona, and another one in Spanish by the Autònoma University of Barcelona. She received her Ph.D. from the Ohio State University. Professor Fuertes Arboix teaches a variety of classes on Language, History, and Culture of Spain, as well as Spanish for specific purposes, like medical or business Spanish. She has been in the Foreign Language Department at Coe College since fall of 2007.
Taiwan - Jay Chen - Finance; firstname.lastname@example.org Originally from Taiwan, Professor Chen has a Ph.D. in Economics. He states "My decision to come to America not only allowed me to have plenty of opportunities in life, but also led me to Coe and Cedar Rapids where I can grow professionally and my family can grow up happily."
Turkey - Ugur Akgun - Physics; email@example.com Professor Akgun was born and raised in Istanbul. He received his B.S. from the Middle East Technical University Physics Department, in Ankara Turkey. He then moved to the U.S. for his Ph.D. studies at the University of Iowa on Experimental High Energy Physics. He has been a Coe faculty member since 2011.
Vietnam - Vinh Nguyen - Business Administration and Finance; firstname.lastname@example.org Professor Nguyen teaches principles of management, international management, organizational behavior and human resource management. Before coming to the U.S., Vinh worked for several years as an instructor at the National Economics University in Vietnam. He has degrees from Vietnam, Thailand, and a Ph.D. from Mississippi State University. Vinh's research interests include employee turnover, organizational change and international business strategy.
Venezuela - Mario Affatigato - Physics; email@example.com Professor Mario Affatigato obtained his undergraduate degree from Coe College in 1989 after arriving from Venezuela. He then went on to get his Ph.D. from Vanderbilt University in 1995. After returning to Coe that same year, he began a research effort investigating the relationship between the optical properties and structure of glassy materials. The work he continues with his students (over 70 to date) has expanded into laser-induced modification and exotic manufacturing methods like aerolevitation. His research mainly deals with oxide glasses, especially vanadates, borates, and samples with heavy metals.
The International Club is extremely active on Coe's campus, and all international and domestic students are welcome. Typical events during the year include the Chicago Trip, Coe's Cultural Show and the International Banquet.
