What activities are you involved in?
Chemistry Club, Lambda Chi Alpha, Student Senate and Pre-Med Club.
Why did you decide to attend Coe?
I attended Coe because of the great professors who care about you, the “small school” feel and to receive a great liberal arts education. The science programs here are phenomenal as well!
What does Coe mean to you?
Over the past few years, Coe has become my home away from home. I've met extraordinary people and have been challenged in ways that I never thought possible. Coe has allowed me to grow as an individual while maintaining my identity.
Have you had any internship, research or study abroad experiences?
I had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain during May Term. It was fantastic! The program was just long enough to fully appreciate Spanish culture, but not too long to make me miss all my stateside friends! The summer after my freshman year, I went to Columbia University in New York City to complete a Summer Medical/Dental Education Program, which was an all-expense paid, 6-week program at an Ivy League medical school. This experience was one of the greatest of my life, and I encourage anyone interested to check this program out! I also spent the summer after my sophomore year researching organic chemistry. I had the opportunity to use state-of-the-art instrumentation while attempting a synthesis of organic compounds that have never been made.
Why should a prospective student choose Coe?
Coe College places a huge emphasis on the liberal arts experience. When you come to Coe, you aren't just choosing a place to learn, but you’re choosing a place to experience. Coe prepares you for living a life in a global-community, not just getting a job (which they also do!)
How has Coe changed your life?
Coe has given me opportunities to question myself and has expanded my breadth of knowledge in countless ways. Coe has taught me to think critically. Most of all, though, Coe has given me a group of friends that I will value for my entire life.
Who is your favorite professor?
The totally honest, yet somewhat corny answer: all of them. So far, I haven't had a single professor that I didn't like. All of the professors here go out of their way to know your name and to get to know you on a personal level. It is great being in my science courses and knowing that my professors have made huge discoveries, and that these great scholars know who I am!
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
I will attend podiatry school to become a foot and ankle specialist. Coe provided me the tools to do extremely well on my MCAT, and I am confident that I will be successful in podiatry school.
