Richard P. Hoffman began teaching at Coe in 1976. He heads the Music Education program supervising all music education students and teaching several classes in the discipline. A former conductor of musical theatre productions, Hoffman has been musical director for over 40 full-length musicals in the metro area, including Coe Theatre. Also a church music specialist, he served two local parishes for over 30 years, is currently the conductor of the chancel choir at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids, and travels regularly to England researching English cathedral choral music. Hoffman is currently the music director and conductor of Coe's Women's Chorale. Yearly, the ensemble, along with the Chaplain's office, presents the annual Christmas Convocation and Christmas Vespers in early December. Profesor Hoffman is the Director of Coe's New York Term, an annual off-campus experience in the "Big Apple" open to all Coe students.
